Washington, D.C. - The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) launched a significant radio ad buy today in key media markets as part of the organization’s continued efforts to enact commonsense immigration reform. The 60-second spots can be heard here and are currently scheduled to run for two to three weeks. The spots are airing in media markets in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Texas, Utah and Wisconsin. These radio ads are part of grassroots legislative efforts designed to educate the public and encourage listeners to call their members of Congress to voice their support.
“Commonsense immigration reform is critically important because it provides the skilled workers manufacturers need, and it is simply the right thing to do,” said NAM Senior Vice President of External Relations Ned Monroe. “With members of Congress in their home states and districts, the timing is ideal for manufacturers and their employees to make the case for reform. We believe that these ads will be an effective component to increasing public support for commonsense reform during the dog days of August. We will continue to explore all possible avenues to influence the debate.”
The NAM has helped lead the business communities’ effort to pass immigration reform through Congress, including holding a dual-city town hall featuring business, legislative and community leaders, conducting hundreds of meetings with members of Congress and partnering with the National Council of La Raza and the Service Employees International Union to advocate comprehensive reform. The NAM is also encouraging manufacturers to participate in congressional district town hall meetings over the next four weeks.
