Leitz - Re-Tools Operations to Increase Efficiency & Focus

Grand Rapids, MI - Leitz is re-tooling.

In a world that’s becoming less personal, Leitz is changing course. We’re re-dedicating ourselves to meeting customer needs, face-to-face.

Leitz - Re-Tools Operations to Increase Efficiency & Focus“Our business was built on handshakes and sawdust; hard work and strong bonds,” says Mike Lind, Leitz CEO. “The best way to diagnose a tooling issue is out on the shop floor using our eyes and hands. You can’t feel surface finish or measure spindle accuracy with a digital photo attached to an e-mail.”

“Our expertise, our reputation, is for accuracy, precision and productivity. And, by building our business on those tenets, we’ve come to realize that we can’t be all things to all people,” Lind continued. “We are high-output production experts; not all customers require that level of skill and attention.”

Leitz is restructuring its product offerings to focus on customized solutions and quick turnaround service for high-demand manufacturing. They will be upgrading equipment at their service centers and increasing staff to run multiple shifts. The new capabilities will allow the company to turn around high-quality tooling faster than ever before.

“We will be more involved, responsive and focused,” promises Lind.

These changes mean that Leitz is expanding their field consultant presence to offer enhanced custom solutions, more frequent production consultations, and more face time.

Additionally, Leitz will be adding diamond service to their Garland, Texas facility to expand capabilities in the region.

To help Leitz build the best organization to service their customers, operational changes will be made in Wisconsin, Indiana and Pennsylvania to allow for an elevated level of customer service at their remaining locations.

Leitz, with U.S. operations headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and worldwide operations managed from Oberkochen, Germany, is a leader in high-technology engineering and manufacturing of precision machine tools and process-specific tool systems. Their primary areas of expertise are in solid wood and panel processing as well as advanced materials.
