TEMPLE, TX - The United States manufacturing plants of Texas-based Wilsonart, an innovator in designing beautiful, hard-working surfaces, have been certified to ISO 14001 and to OHSAS 18001 in recognition of exceptional focus on environmental and health and safety management systems.
The company's plants in Temple, Texas and Fletcher, N.C., have met requirements of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) related to minimization of environmental impact, and of the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment System (OHSAS), an international benchmark for occupational health and safety performance. ISO is a network of national standards-setting bodies. The British Standards Institution in cooperation developed OHSAS 18001 with various certification bodies around the globe.
"Continually improving quality, environmental and safety practices has been a key focus of our business for years," said Kevin Sweeney, Director-Environmental, Health and Safety at Wilsonart. "The new certifications demonstrate our commitment specifically to the environment and to the health and safety of our employees," Sweeney said. "These achievements are based on the hard work of the many employees in our plants who have shown a strong commitment to achieving the high level of performance required to meet these internationally recognized measures."
The Texas plant also received ISO 9001 certification for quality management systems in 1994, and the North Carolina plant received the same certification in 1995. The ISO 9001 standards provide for consistently meeting customer requirements and ongoing quality improvement.
