LG & Nate Berkus Create Kitchen For My Kitchen Needs Nate WinnerKANSAS CITY, KS - Kansas City homeowners Tim and Lauren Oliphant today received the redesign of a lifetime as winners of the "My Kitchen Needs Nate" kitchen renovation contest. Chosen by renowned designer Nate Berkus and home appliance innovator LG Electronics from a pool of more than 500 submissions, the winning couple and proud parents of two received a 10-day, top-to-bottom kitchen overhaul, featuring an all-new floor plan, updated features and the complete line of LG Studio premium, built-in appliances.

To enter the contest, the Oliphants captured a video from their kitchen that showcased the personal inspiration they wanted Berkus to incorporate in his design, as well as a description of what they love about LG Studio appliances. In spearheading the redesign effort, Berkus, who serves as artistic advisor for LG Studio, spoke with the family to better understand their needs and issues and crafted a plan to make the kitchen the hard working space the family needed it to be, while also upping the design stakes.

"I was so thrilled to design a signature kitchen for the Oliphants," said Berkus. "It was clear from their video that their previous kitchen just wasn't meeting the demands of their growing family. They are just so adorable, with so much energy and personality. I wanted to create a kitchen that reflected all of that. Functionality was also a top priority. They are a busy family; they cook, they entertain, they are raising two small children. There's a reason your kitchen is the hardest working room in the house, and I wanted this one to meet all their needs, now and in the future. I think we did that."

"We are beyond thrilled and thankful to win the 'My Kitchen Needs Nate' contest," said Lauren Oliphant. "Not only are we excited to be the proud owners of gorgeous LG Studio appliances, but we can't believe that Nate Berkus himself was able to take our needs, hopes and wishes and turn them into the kitchen of our dreams that finally fits our growing family. This is just incredible!"

The complete renovation will be documented in a four-part video web series hosted by Berkus. The series, available in mid-November on LGStudioKitchen.com, will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the redesign in action – from Berkus' local shopping trips to the final reveal – and illustrate just how LG Studio appliances can save time and energy.

"Nate's renovation brilliantly captured the Oliphant family's spirit," said David VanderWaal, head of marketing for LG Electronics USA. "LG Studio appliances blend best-in-class innovation with a sophisticated, timeless look, and we hope they enjoy their new kitchen for many years to come."

Berkus designed the Oliphant's LG Studio kitchen with seamless integration in mind, highlighting clean lines and a unique, sophisticated feel that enhances every kitchen's decor. From grey hardwood flooring, a farmhouse dining room table and chairs, subway tile backsplash, brass faucets and hardware to butcher block countertops, white cabinetry and woven window shades, every aspect of the design has been meticulously planned and executed.

Complementing Berkus's design is a full suite of premium kitchen appliances from LG Electronics. As the "My Kitchen Needs Nate" contest winners, the Oliphants received the LG Studio ultra-large capacity Door-in-Door™ refrigerator (model LSFD2591ST), LG Studio convection double wall oven (LSWD305ST), LG Studio gas cooktop (LSCG366ST), LG Studio TrueSteam™ dishwasher (LSDF9962ST) and LG Studio countertop microwave oven with TrueCookPlus™ technology (LSRM2010ST).
