Kimball Office Ups Number of Indoor Advantage Gold Products

JASPER, IN — As an industry leader in providing facility managers and the architecture and design community with environmentally friendly products, Kimball Office is proud to announce that 98 percent of its Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) Indoor Advantage-certified products have achieved Gold status.

“This year, Kimball Office was the first contract office furniture manufacturer to certify 100 percent of its manufactured products to ANSI/BIFMA level 2 or 3 status; following that up with the announcement that nearly all Indoor Advantage-certified products reached the Gold level demonstrates our company’s commitment to producing sustainable and safe furnishings,” said Steve Brewster, Operations Program manager for Kimball Office.

The SCS Indoor Advantage program applies to products used within enclosed, indoor environments – specifically within a commercial or classroom setting. To achieve Gold level certification, each product must meet indoor air quality requirements as defined by the American National Standards Institute/Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (ANSI/BIFMA) Furniture Emission Standard. The results are recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council for contribution to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED(R)) indoor air quality credits.

The SCS environmental certification process includes site audits to access documented control systems, including quality control plans, record keeping and select product samples for laboratory testing.

Indoor air quality is one of the largest contributions office furniture can make to buildings achieving LEED certification. For more information on the sustainable attributes of Kimball Office products, visit kimballoffice.ecoScorecard.com.
