Jeld-Wen Building Door Facings Plant in Louisiana

Dodson, LA – The world’s leading manufacturer of windows and doors is opening a new door-facings production facility in Winn Parish, Louisiana. The facility is scheduled for start-up in the fourth quarter of 2012 and is expected to employ at least 75 people in its first year. Wood fiber door-facings are a major component in the most popular type of interior door sold in North America.

“The JELD-WEN plant in Louisiana will be the most technologically advanced wood fiber door-facings plant in the world,” stated Philip Orsino, JELD-WEN President. “The efficiency and quality this plant will deliver will enhance JELD-WEN’s global leadership position.”

JELD-WEN has worked with the Governor of Louisiana, Louisiana Economic Development Corporation (“LED”), and the Winn Parish Police Jury since the project began.

“The Governor’s office, the LED and Winn Parish have been supportive and responsive at every stage of the process during the last few years,” stated Ron Saxton, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at JELD-WEN.

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal stated, "We welcome the completion of the JELD-WEN facility as great news for Winn Parish and the entire state of Louisiana. This project brings to life a world-class manufacturing environment that taps Louisiana's rich resources and creates quality jobs for our people. We look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with JELD-WEN.”

LED Secretary Stephen Moret continued, “An innovative building materials company like JELD-WEN fits perfectly with Louisiana's goal of growing a sustainable agribusiness sector, one that utilizes best practices in technology to realize maximum return with minimal impact on the environment. This is just such a project, and it will be a major economic driver for the Winn Parish region for many years to come.”

“Louisiana has a steady and reliable source of hardwood fiber,” said JELD-WEN Senior Vice President Jim Morrison. “We’re also impressed by the employment base throughout Winn and Jackson Parishes.”

JELD-WEN has worked closely with the Winn Parish government leaders throughout the last several years.

“Winn Parish welcomes JELD-WEN and looks forward to continuing a great working relationship with the company and its officials,” stated Winn Parish Policy Jury President Jack McFarland. “The impact of the opening of this manufacturing facility will be a tremendous economic boost to the local and surrounding economies. We are very pleased that JELD-WEN chose to locate its newest facility in Winn Parish.”
