At interzum, the density of innovations presented by the industry is unique – which is why the world's leading fair only takes place in Cologne every two years and has been successfully holding its own as the "mother of all trade shows" for many years now. The global furniture sector is already eagerly awaiting the latest products that are set to shape the furniture designs of tomorrow. Not least of all due to its strong concept and the internationality of both its exhibitors and the anticipated visitors, interzum 2013 will again be occupying a key position in the market.
The world-leading interzum fair takes place every two years – a rhythm that is important for the industry so as to be able to present its production-ready innovations for the first time. As a result, the entire furniture industry is already looking forward to interzum a good three months before it gets underway. The sector is eager to see which influential innovations for the furniture production and interior finishing sectors will be on show from 13 to 16 May 2013.
Because of the countless innovative world premieres that are celebrated in Cologne, the interzum can also be described as the "mother of all trade shows". For one thing is certain: the new products from the materials, functions, components, textiles and machinery segments first have to reach the market before they can be incorporated into new designs for furniture or kitchens. interzum has thus achieved a level of relevance that is unique within the furniture industry. More than 50,000 visitors from all over the world are expected to attend and take advantage of the opportunity to meet the most relevant companies in one place. In 2013, the industry's major players will again be presenting some impressive stand designs at interzum for doing business with decision-makers from international markets. The exhibitors include approximately 400 companies from Germany and 1,050 from abroad, making interzum the most international event in the Cologne trade fair calendar.
"In terms of its cogency for the interior and design sectors, our trade fair portfolio here in Cologne is unique," says Gerald Böse, CEO of Koelnmesse, with a certain pride. "At interzum, exhibitors show their innovations for the furniture of tomorrow. The furniture of tomorrow is then presented at the imm cologne and LivingKitchen, Living Interiors, ORGATEC, spoga+gafa and, last but not least, Kind + Jugend – and we thus cover the entire spectrum from beginning to end." In 2012, the fairs for the interior sector drew more than 200,000 trade visitors to Cologne, including dealers, architects and designers. As Böse explains, this success too is far from coincidental: "Just as we have established a concisely structured trade fair portfolio, we also adhere strictly to the strategic approach of continuously enhancing the concepts our trade fairs are based on. This enables us to make them interesting for new target groups as well as ensuring we remain attractive in the face of changing market requirements." With regard to interzum, the Piazza concept is a good example of this approach. The piazzas were developed in order to offer certain target groups an in-depth presentation of a certain theme. In addition, the products on show have been subdivided into three clearly defined segments this year, thus bringing the players from the various value creation chains closer together and creating a new level of clarity for exhibitors and visitors alike.
Conceptual strength, an impressive degree of internationality and a high density of innovations – three points that apply not just to the Cologne trade fairs for the interior and design sector in general, but which very specifically stand for interzum as well. There is thus good reason for the sense of anticipation surrounding interzum 2013.
