HIGH POINT, NC — The Hickory Chair Furniture Co. is once again defying industry norms this fall during October’s International Home Furnishings Market. Not content to simply debut new styles from one of the brand's exceptional design partners, Hickory invited all four designers — Mariette Himes Gomez, Alexa Hampton, Suzanne Kasler and Thomas O'Brien — to develop exciting new pieces for a multi-faceted release.
The impressive result not only demonstrates each designer’s distinct talent, it showcases the capability of Hickory’s workroom to bring together a remarkably wide range of people and personalized home furnishings. “We’re exceedingly proud of our relationships with these great designers,” noted Hickory’s President Jay Reardon. “Just as they’re proud of all they can do with our talented North Carolina artisans. It’s collaboration in the truest sense of the word.”
That collaboration is on display throughout Hickory’s redesigned showroom. The space features exciting new pieces from each of the four designers, who were each invited to contribute several designs they felt would complement Hickory’s line. It also incorporates several new additions to the company’s 1911 and Winterthur Country Estate collections — and almost a hundred re-envisioned designs from Hickory’s timeless catalog.
“Our goal was to showcase all the inspiring design options and opportunities our workroom affords,” said Skip Rumley, who joined Hickory as Vice President and Creative Director earlier this year. “I can’t imagine a better way to do that than with bold new pieces by four of the world’s top interior designers — shown alongside re-worked classics from Hickory’s library in a palette of fresh finishes and painterly fabrics.
