Green Building Initiative Announces New Appointments to Staff

Portland, OR – The Green Building Initiative (GBI) today announced appointments to three new positions within its Portland corporate headquarters staff, according to GBI president Jerry Yudelson.

“We have filled much needed roles in marketing, engineering and sales,” Yudelson said. “These individuals possess unique skill sets that will take GBI to the next level of green building assessment and certification programs in 2014.It isn’t often that a small nonprofit has a chance to hire such outstanding people, but we did and we took advantage of it!”

Thomas J. White, PE, CEM, is GBI’s new chief engineer, bringing more than 30 years experience in the engineering and application of building energy systems. Previously, White served as technical director for Green Buildings Services (GBS), was an instructor in the renewable energy engineering program at the Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT), and led the energy services team at Glumac consulting engineers. He holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in mechanical engineering, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in biological sciences.

Andrew (Andy) Rocker is GBI’s new key account manager, operating out of the Pacific Northwest region. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Rocker has spent his professional career working in inside sales/account management positions, with the past 10 years focused on energy management hardware and software for Deck Monitoring LLC and Veris Industries. Rocker holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Lake Erie College and a Master of Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University.

Shaina Sullivan, GBI’s new marketing director, joins the organization from the Portland Metro Home Builders Association, where she was senior program manager for sustainability and education. Prior to that she held management positions in sustainability for commercial and residential developers in Portland and Austin, Texas. She holds Bachelor’s Degrees in international studies and journalism from the University of Oregon.
