Final Extreme Makeover Gives Joplin Residents a Fresh Start

Final Extreme Makeover Gives Joplin Residents a Fresh StartANN ARBOR, MI -- To celebrate its 200th and final episode, ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will reveal seven homes for seven families who lost theirs to the tornado that devastated the city of Joplin, Mo., last May. In what producers say is one of the largest projects ever undertaken by the reality show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition—along with thousands of volunteers—successfully re-built the houses in just seven days. The episode will air this Friday, Jan. 13, at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on ABC.

"KraftMaid was proud to be a part of such a tremendous effort in Joplin," said Mark Ayers, vice president of brand marketing for KraftMaid. "Working with the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition design team, we were able to help ensure all the homes were different so the families who would live there had a unique space created just for them."

Each of the seven homes is designed to reflect a different American architectural style. From the Nevins family's hip, urban, eco-friendly cottage to the Nguyen family's traditional Arts & Crafts-style home, all feature KraftMaid cabinets in different door styles and finishes to complement the home.

"It was a challenge to bring seven different designs to life in Joplin for these homeowners," said Tracy Hutson, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition designer. "As a designer, I was excited to have so many cabinetry colors, finishes and styles to work with."

Springfield, MO-based Cabinetry Showcase by Ed Hines Co., KraftMaid's local dealer partner, coordinated the installation for each home.
