Minneapolis, MN – Decca Contract, a leading international manufacturer and furniture brand, announces Élan by Decca, a new portfolio of lounge furnishings designed by an international group of prominent designers around the concepts of craft and modern elegance. The collection will debut at NeoCon 2013, where it will be on view June 10-12 in the Decca Contract showroom, Suite 3-101, at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago.

Élan by Decca has engaged an impressive roster of design talent, including Lauren Rottet of Rottet Studio, Mark Saffell and David Ritch of 5D Studio, Mark Hirons of Cannon Design, Brian Graham of Graham Design, and Jess Sorel of Sorel Studio, in a collection of understated and dynamic pieces. While Élan encompasses distinctive styles, the collection is united by attention to detail, consummate craft, and a fresh, contemporary approach.

The collection incorporates versatile designs that support a range of functional elements - seating, storage, and surfaces – and includes small stools, chairs, benches, ottomans, and occasional tables. Élan by Decca features pared down forms combined with an inspired mix of materials. The collection presents chairs consisting of simple, upholstered forms wrapped by stainless steel and rich wood frames, platform seating with tailored cushions resting on a bridge of steel, and occasional tables in an array of beautiful materials including wood, stone, and glass. The inspired combination of soft and hard materials allows for a line that offers exceptional comfort while retaining the rigorous elegance of modernist design.

Intended for both public and private spaces that project a casual elegance, intimacy, and warmth, Élan by Decca works equally well across all markets – contract, hospitality, and residential. The varying proportions and silhouettes included in the collection support both formal and informal contexts where people connect and converse. Seating options range from high-back chairs allowing for a sense of enclosure and privacy ideal for focused conversation, to slightly angled seats, adding a sense of ease and lightness, to benches allowing for pause and reflection. Each piece included in the line works equally well as a collection or specified as an eclectic mix with other furnishings.

Élan by Decca designer Lauren Rottet has been honored as a keynote speaker at NeoCon 2013, where she will give a presentation June 12, at noon, at the Merchandise Mart. Sponsored by Decca, Rottet’s keynote speech will address the future of the workplace environment, offering her unique perspective on what the “office of today” looks like. Rottet will also address the inclusive nature of design and its application across industries, sharing her experience and insight as Founding Principal of Rottet Studios and one of today’s most celebrated interior architects.
