SHERWOOD, Arkansas – Custom Aircraft Cabinets (CAC), a specialized woodworking and upholstery manufacturer supplying private, corporate and head‐of‐state aircraft companies globally, today held a grand opening for its new and expanded manufacturing plant in Sherwood.
CAC is in the process of adding 150 new jobs at the facility. On hand to deliver congratulations was Congressman Tim Griffin.
“Arkansas is proud to count Custom Aircraft Cabinets (CAC) as part of its aerospace industry,” Griffin said. “Today’s grand opening means hundreds of good‐paying jobs here in Sherwood, on top of the nearly $6 million investment CAC has made in the community to create a state‐of‐the‐art facility.”
CAC invested $5.9 million in the new facility, which includes state‐of‐the‐art equipment that greatly increase finishing capabilities. Within the next two years the company expects to employ more than 290 people at full production.
Founded in North Little Rock in 1989, CAC has expanded several times over the years and moved to the current Sherwood location from its existing facility in North Little Rock to accommodate continued growth.
CAC’s new Sherwood facility was formerly home to National Home Center.
Governor Mike Beebe joined CAC owners Paul Reesnes and Mike Gueringer in August 2012 to announce the company’s plans to make a significant new investment and expansion in Sherwood.
CAC owners Paul Reesnes and Mike Gueringer stated, “After 23 years in business and with numerous expansions behind us, the Grand Opening of this new facility marks an extraordinary milestone for Custom Aircraft Cabinets. This building and the people that work here allow CAC the unique opportunity to better serve our existing customers, as well as to seek out customers in other segments of the aircraft interiors market that were previously unapproachable.”
Aerospace and related products continue to rank among Arkansas’s top exports due to companies such as CAC. In 2011, Arkansas exported more than $486 million in aerospace products.
“It gives us great honor to welcome CAC to Sherwood,” said Sherwood Mayor Virginia Hillman. “We are excited to be a part of the growing aerospace industry generating an economic vitality and bringing so many new jobs for the people in Sherwood and Central Arkansas.” For more information, including employment opportunities, visit www.customaircraftcabinets.com.
