Collins Announces FreeForm Particleboard Ingredients

PORTLAND, OR - The Collins Companies today announced that it has fully disclosed all of the ingredients in Collins Pine FreeForm(R) particleboard products though the Declare(TM) program. The products have been determined to be "Red List Free" on the Declare ingredients label.

Declare is a database of non-toxic, sustainably sourced building products that meet the stringent materials requirements of the Living Building Challenge(TM), the world's most advanced green building certification program. Declare and the Living Building Challenge are operated by the International Living Future Institute (ILFI).

Declare provides a clear "nutrition-label" for products, making it easy for builders and consumers to tell what is in the building products they intend to use. To receive a Declare label, manufacturers must disclose the full chemical composition for each 'Declared' product. The label calls out any chemicals of concern, and notes when an ingredient that is listed in the Living Building Challenge's Materials Red List is present.

In the case of Collins Pine FreeForm products, Declare underscores Collins' commitment to environmentally sound, No Added Formaldehyde (NAF) and chemical free, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified products. Collins Pine FreeForm products also contain 100% post-industrial recycled and recovered fibers.

"In an effort to promote full transparency in the industry, we declare that our products not only consider human and environmental health, but put these considerations first," said Mike Shuey, sales manager of The Collins Companies. "The addition of Declare to our list of endorsements, which includes FSC certification and CARB Exempt, further emphasizes Collins' dedication to the production of sustainable, environmentally conscious products."

Collins Pine FreeForm has been designed to meet the strictest materials standards and demonstrates the company's long-standing commitment to using resources responsibly and maintaining the health of the forest ecosystems from which they source their products.
