The range of Vauth-Sagel waste separation systems is now even more comprehensive: The new variants perfectly complement the existing Vauth-Sagel product spectrum, which includes the Öko liner, the Öko flexliner, the Öko center and – since 2012 – the Öko freeliner.

In addition to foodstuffs, consumables and household utensils and appliances, we all have to collect, store and ultimately dispose of waste and recyclables. Ideally, all the containers required for these tasks would simply disappear behind the front panels of the kitchen sink unit. Just exactly how the waste separation system is organised and how large the respective containers have to be depends on the habits of the inhabitants, the size of the household and the communal waste disposal and recycling guidelines and regulations. As a storage room specialist for modern kitchen layouts, waste separation has been one of Vauth-Sagel’s areas of competence for many years now. The company’s current product range comprises a total of five different systems, with two further systems being unveiled as concept studies at the interzum 2013.

New generation of waste containers available

With the current additions to its waste separation portfolio, Vauth-Sagel has not only considerably increased the number of available container variants, it has also optimised the utilisation properties and the design. Whereas six different plastic containers were previously fitted to the established systems, kitchen fitters now have 24 individual standard types available for installation. These differ in height (145, 220, 260, 330 and 430 mm), in width (115, 185, 230 and 315 mm) and in depth (190, 300 and 380 mm), offering volumes ranging from 4 through to 39 litres.

The optimisations, with the two carrying handles per container being just one example, are already available for the standard range. With its numerous details, the additional handle – previously, there was only one – offers further utilisation properties. To this end, the handles virtually completely cover the edge of the container when lowered, so that there is no contamination between the handles and the container rim. Furthermore, the edging of the plastic containers have a cut-out on the outer edge enabling easy access to the handles particularly if space is tight. Furthermore, fixing the bag has also been optimised, which is now completely held in place beneath the lowered handles. Placed on top, a bio-lid with active carbon filter or individual lids can firmly seal the containers. And the Vauth-Sagel engineers have even thought of a special insert that enables the suspension of two waste bags inside one large container.

The overall design concept perfectly rounds off the new generation of waste containers. The result is a coherentlyshaped and linear overall solution that makes several adjacent containers appear as a single unit and ensures the highest level of cleanliness due to the smallest clearances. And high standards of hygiene are matter-of-fact for Vauth-Sagel when it comes to the containers: to this end, the new receptacles are manufactured from special plastic with smooth and therefore cleaning-friendly side sections. The metal protective lid used in various Vauth-Sagel waste separation systems is double powder-coated and hence protected against damage for many of 11 years. The complete range of waste separation systems has been developed within the Vauth-Sagel Group, with all the different materials processed in-house and put together with the highest ‘Made in Germany’ product quality to create the finished article.

Öko freeliner

Defining a perfectly-organised and customised waste separation system when purchasing a kitchen is no easy feat. It is only in day-to-day use that it becomes really clear just how the mostused area within the kitchen should be equipped and kitted out. The Öko freeliner from Vauth-Sagel – initially unveiled in 2012 as a concept design and now available as a full product range – offers precisely this freedom, as the individually-configurable containers can be positioned exactly where the user wants them to be. As the system is based on the drawers of the respective furniture manufacturers, the Öko freeliner can be combined with manufacturer-specific comfort properties such as full-length pull-out feature, cushioned closing all the way through to automatic, knee pressure-activated opening. Freelypositionable within the drawer, the stability of the system is guaranteed by means of a non-slip mat or an adapted thermoform tray.

Öko freeliner

The basis for the Öko flexliner is the standard kitchen manufacturer drawer, although this variant is equipped with a screwed-on frame with bottom panel for housing the individual waste disposal containers. To provide this drawer with even greater stability, users can also screw the top to the front drawer panel.

In line with standard kitchen designs, the system is available for 400-, 450-, 500-, 600-, 800- or 900-mm-wide drawers and in two installation heights: 366 and 466 mm. Similar to the Öko liner, this product also comes with a sturdy, double powdercoated metal lid, which can be additionally used as a shelf. Depending on the width of the drawer, the capacities of the individual waste containers can be customised.

Öko topliner concept study

Premièring as a design concept, Vauth-Sagel unveiled a further waste separation system based on manufacturer-specific drawer frames at the interzum 2013. The stabilising base frame replaces the standard drawer bottom, offering space to position large waste containers. A sheet metal mount fitted over the frame is able to comfortably and beautifully accommodate various combinations of the new Vauth-Sagel waste containers. The system can be adjusted to all standard drawer frames and is easy to install – an attractive solution for waste separation, which will be popular both for initial installations and retrofitting to existing drawers in kitchens.

Öko liner

The Öko liner has been designed as a front-panel drawer with two different installation heights. The range of container sizes, for example, was recently changed and now complies with widely differing regional waste disposal stipulations. The range is now also rounded off by new depth variants, enabling – as a result of the reduced depth – the installation of under-sink water heaters.

If requested by the customer, the Öko liner can be expanded to include the automatic ‘power move’ ejection system. The Öko liner ‘power move’ allows the entire drawer – and the enclosed containers – to be fully-automatically revealed simply by tapping the front panel. This is particularly comfortable for kitchen users, as it allows them to use both hands when handling waste or recyclables. After use, the Öko liner “power move” closes quietly and, needless to say, cushioned.

Öko xxliner prototype

The Öko xxliner prototype is a further waste separation concept and is based on the structural foundations of the already wellestablished Öko liner system solution. Also equipped with its own guide system – including self-retraction system and cushioning – the Öko xxliner is aimed particularly at waste separation with large-volume containers, as it requires very little space on either side. The system is already available for narrow kitchen cabinets with widths from 300 mm and can therefore be installed underneath work surface areas independently of the sink cabinet. Special container variants have been developed for the waste separation system that unite maximum volume with minimum space requirements. Combined with the existing container programme, this will permit three-way separation for carcass widths of 600 mm and offer a total volume of 91 litres.

Öko center

The Öko center is a clever and attractively-priced solution for clean waste disposal concealed behind cabinet doors. Here, the plastic containers automatically swivel out when opening the door, whereby the door panel itself is not subjected to any additional loads. The lid automatically lowers itself onto the containers during the closing process. Both hygienic and spacesaving, the Öko center from Vauth-Sagel is the perfect solution for standard kitchens thanks to its various sizes.For cabinet widths from 400 mm, the Öko center comes with either a single or double partition. In the case of cabinet widths from 500 mm, consumers can choose between versions with a treble or a quadruple partition. Here, the available container sizes range from 9, 12 through to 18 l, the first also marketed with an optional odour filter lid.
