Thansau, Germany - As a new sense of Urbanism affects the world’s population and influences color and design decision making, Schattdecor remains ahead of the trends in the flooring market. The company showcased its “City Collection” theme of woodgrain colors inspired by the cities of the U.S., as well as the latest in flooring décor developments at Surfaces 2012 in Las Vegas, January 24-26.

Every city has Homes, Offices, Hospitals, Hotels, Restaurants, Stores, Entertainment venues, and every other market segment in between; however, every city does things differently. The Culture, Climate, Craft, and Color of a city influences design choices being made. Schattdecor designer, Mark Smith, has taken a close look at four different regions of the United States and has observed four very unique trends in flooring that reiterate the point that where a person lives does influence what they will put on their floor.

Out West in cities like Portland and Seattle where recycling is a way of life, emphasis is placed Repurposing the Past. Cities in the Midwest like Chicago and St. Louis are a bit more conservative and the trends lean more towards Handcrafted Artifacts when considering new surfaces. The Refinished Loft is a theme referring to the refined, linear urban look and gray-brown colors of East coast cities like New York City and Boston. The eclectic Art Deco looks of cities in the South like Miami and New Orleans give us a Unique Sophistication in flooring.

City provides inspiration - Schattdecor presents at Surfaces 2012Schattdecor presented new colors and trends in flooring, with an urban influence, at Surfaces. The team invited customers to a hospitality suite at the Mandalay Bay for their latest presentation. They also met with customers in a new booth space on the show floor this year. Visitors had the opportunity to see over 40 new flooring decors, including 24 of the company’s latest developments that had never before been seen. Decors like Tavern Walnut, Antique Oak 2-board, and Canyon Bonanza Oak surveyed very well this year. This latest collection is another reminder to customers that Schattdecor will always be ahead of the trends in flooring and will continue to develop new and unique decors for every market.

The Schattdecor group had a satisfying year end result in 2011. The company saw the opening of new facilities in Russia, Turkey, and the U.S., which has only helped add to their international success. The production facility in St. Louis, MO celebrated its Grand Opening on June 21, 2011 with nearly 200 customers, guests, friends, family, and co-workers in attendance. The celebration was an overwhelming success for the team in the U.S. and the new flooring developments that were shown at Surfaces by Schattdecor were equally impressive.
