Cardboard Packaging Company Cuts Production Time Over 80%

Cardboard Packaging Company Cuts Production Time Over 80%GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Industrial Inspection Co. in Monroe, MI is now able to produce their most-often required cardboard packaging materials in less than one hour rather than 12 hours following the purchase of two new machines. Industrial Inspection Co. provides the Automotive and Heavy Truck OEM's with custom light-weight packaging design and fabrication, manufacturing services and is a Tier 1 supplier of heavy-duty industrial pulleys to the diesel engine. The company purchased a Kentwood MRS-151 multi rip saw with an outfeed table and a Kentwood CS-300P push saw from Stiles Machinery Inc. to replace six band saws they had been using since the 1960s. Multiple layers of cardboard are laminated or glued together before being cut to size. The company president, Andre Sottile, reported that their production time was cut from 12 hours to just under an hour, a remarkable labor savings. Chuck Carter, Product Manager for Kentwood products at Stiles Machinery, commented that the ROI on this company’s purchase will be less than two years. Industrial Inspection’s purchase included two Belfab dust collection units, also from Stiles Machinery.

The Kentwood MRS-151 multi rip saw is designed to cut cardboard, featuring a spindle speed of 3200 RPM and diameter of 80 mm. The saw’s working thickness of 10 – 145mm includes an allowable cutting circle of 18”. The CS-300P push saw has a maximum working length of 6,000mm, a 10 HP saw motor, servo motor feed, and the saw blade has a cutting thickness of 12 – 115mm.
