Boise Engineered Wood Products in Mutiple Species for 2012

BOISE, ID - Boise Cascade, L.L.C., headquartered in Boise, Idaho, manufactures and markets engineered wood products - building products with improved structural characteristics that use wood fiber more efficiently.

Boise Cascade owns and operates the world’s two largest laminated veneer lumber (LVL) and I-joist manufacturing plants in Alexandria, Louisiana and White City, Oregon.

60 experienced Boise Cascade Engineered Wood Products distributors are located across North America to meet the needs of dealers and builders with regional product mixes, on-time delivery and after-sale service.

Boise Cascade Engineered Wood Products and services are an integrated system of products, efficient software and advanced building practices to make home building simpler, faster and more profitable for homebuilders.

Boise Cascade engineered wood products are consistently sized products that are stronger than dimension lumber, so less material may be needed. Boise Cascade state-of-the art software tools can help design better homes, improve resource utilization, eliminate most waste, and save builders time and money. And Boise Cascade advanced building practices use precision layouts, longer spans and fewer pieces, helping eliminate most hand-cutting and fitting.

Sustainable Building Products:

Boise Cascade Engineered Wood Products are available FSC® Chain-of-Custody (COC) certified or SFI® COC or Fiber Sourcing certified, so builders -2- can achieve green building credits either through the National Green Building Standard™, ICC® 700-2008 or LEED® programs under U.S. Green Building Council® residential and commercial green building programs.

The products are also NAHB Research Center Green Approved, certificates no. 00080-00083. BCI® Joists are I-joists with extra wide flanges made from VERSA-LAM® laminated veneer lumber (LVL), providing outstanding strength and durability.

5000, 6000, 6500, 60 and 90-series BCI® Joists feature wide profile flanges, making them easier to work with on the job because of their wide nailing surface. BCI® Joists are about 20% stronger than comparably-sized dimension lumber, so fewer or smaller joists using less wood fiber may be specified. BCI® Joists can help keep floors flat and homes square, and can make finish work go faster, with fewer problems.

ALLJOIST® series I-joists have solid-sawn flanges made largely from black spruce, a strong, dense wood species. ALLJOIST® AJS® 30 series joists are available in 18”, 20”, 22” and 24” depths with 1-1/2” deep, 3-1/2” wide machine stress-rated flanges. Together with BCI® Joists, ALLJOIST® products are members of the industry’s widest family of flanges.

Manufactured in Eastern Canada, the ALLJOIST® product line is available throughout the eastern United States and Canada. VERSA-LAM® LVL beams, headers and columns eliminate twisting, shrinking and splitting and deliver flatter, quieter floors and structures. Size-matched to BCI® Joists, ALLJOIST® products and other Boise Cascade products, VERSA-LAM® offers quick assembly and is precision cut in 18 standard sizes.

Each beam edge is eased, or smoothed, to avoid splinters. Because of its uniformly high strength, VERSA-LAM® supports heavier loads than comparably sized dimension lumber. Price-competitive with laminated strand products, VERSA-LAM® offers the advantages of an authentic laminated veneer lumber.

VERSA-STUD® wall framing offers at least 2.1 times more bending strength and 20% more stiffness than no. 2 SPF dimension lumber studs. VERSA-STUD® wall framing provides superior wind resistance, strength and appearance in tall wall applications and eliminates the “hinge” created by platform framing. VERSA-STUD® products should be considered for stairwells, entrance door and window -3- walls, elevator shafts, pocket doors and walls where cabinets or wall tile are to be installed.

These products are available in lengths up to 60’ for specialized applications and optimized cutting. VERSA-RIM® boards are one-step rim boards designed as integral members of the Boise Cascade engineered wood product line.

VERSA-RIM® boards match BCI® Joist and ALLJOIST® depths, need no special backing and come in long lengths. Solid-sawn or laminated wood decking used for ceilings or roofs: These products complement beautiful wood designs with high strength and reliable performance. Guaranteed strength allows architects and engineers to design larger structures.

Builders can choose from the various species including Douglas Fir/Larch, Ponderosa Pine, Inland Red Cedar, and Alaska Yellow Cedar, with standard edge V-sanded faces or square / bullnose specialty patterns -- available in a variety of sizes up to 24’ in length. Rough sawn finish is available as well as prefinished factory sealing or stain.

BOISE GLULAM® beams are available in a variety of widths and depths, either with or without camber and in V8 balanced type with symmetric layup as well as the traditional V4 top-loaded installation beams for the most efficient use of timber resources.

A variety of species are available from Douglas Fir/Larch to durable, naturally decay resistant species like Alaska Yellow or Port Orford Cedar, which performs well in wet conditions of use and gives designers an alternative to chemically treated wood beams.

Curve or arch type beams support wood designers’ quest for the ultimate wood system. All Boise Cascade decking and glulam products are available from one manufacturing location and available through Boise Cascade’s nationwide distribution chain.
