Balcas Again Transforms Market With Next Generation MDF Mouldings

KINGSPORT - Balcas pioneered the introduction of MDF architectural mouldings almost 25 years ago. In 2012 Balcas will again transform the construction, RMI, and DIY industries with its ground-breaking KOTA™ “Paint No More” prefinished MDF moulding.

The advantages of MDF over standard timber are widely appreciated. The costs however associated with fixing and finishing the product are significant due to the man hours required to complete this process.

Through collaboration with Eastman Chemical Company, Balcas launches KOTA™ which uses Eastman’s revolutionary patented Cerfis™ technology. KOTA™ is a prefinished “Paint No More” pristine, durable finished MDF moulding. KOTA™ easy 3-step fix and finish solution (KOTA™ FIX, KOTA™ FILL, and KOTA™ KRAYON) offers the house builder greater procedural efficiencies as well as a superior finish to current methods.

KOTA™ MDF mouldings are resistant to scratching, damage and denting, and feature a nonchipping finish when compared to traditional paint. KOTA™ is easy to cut and fix without damage. KOTA™ touch-up technology leaves a blemish-free high quality finish.

Mouldings are coated continuously on all faces for a consistent geometry, providing dimensional stability.

The Eastman Cerfis™ technology used for KOTA™ provides a surface with coatings made from GREENGUARD® Certified resins with no VOCs, less solid waste, and longer product life for better sustainability.

Balcas is a licensee of Eastman’s patented Cerfis™ technology, which is utilised in KOTA™. This exciting collaboration will represent a next generation offering in Europe.

Eastman Chemical Company is a global specialty chemicals company. Representatives from both Balcas and Eastman will be present at Timber Expo in Coventry, on September 25–26, to discuss this innovative new product and the technology behind it, as well as its applications and benefits.
