American Seating Introduces New US Table Line

CHICAGO – American Seating, a leader in innovative seating solutions for 127 years, announced today that is introducing a new line of table products designed to coordinate with its award-winning Us Chair Family. The Us Table Line consists of a wide range of rectangular, square and round tables – in various depths, widths, colors and table top edge options – that can be easily configured in multiple ways to meet the myriad active learning spaces required of today’s dynamic education market. Designers, school administrators, facility managers and end-users will find the product appealing for its universal design, easy mobility and high durability.

American Seating Introduces New US Table LineThe first model available is a rectangle table that comes in a 29-inch height and three table top surface depths in 24-, 30- and 36-inch sizes. Available with casters or glides, it features an exceptional 53.75-inch span from leg-to-leg and easily accommodates two Us Chairs and leg-room for its users. Four cast urethane edge options are available in eight color choices, as well as a lightweight table top option that is 50 percent lighter than today’s standard table top. Four powder coat color choices from the Us Chair Family color palette provide even greater design coordination opportunities and possibilities. An accessible bag hook affixed to both sides creates greater convenience and sense of ownership for the user.

“The way in which teachers instruct and students learn today has reshaped the way we think about traditional classrooms, lecture halls and study areas,” said American Seating Vice President of Marketing Deb McDermott. “As a result, these learning environments demand solutions that are both universal and customizable and can be in place for years to come. The Us Table Line meets these criteria through its universal design and color options, its mobility, its high durability and its efficient reconfiguration ability.”

Designers will appreciate the table’s timeless, understated and universal design, which mirrors that of the Us Chair Family. Featuring similar angles, materials and aesthetics, the coordinating tables and chairs create a cohesive design continuity in environments where the products are paired together.

Moreover, the product’s lightweight composition, mobility features and symmetrical shape (there is no front or back) means the tables can be arranged immediately into various configurations. These include traditional linear rows for lecture-type learning, U-shapes or “boxes” for group discussions and “clusters” for peer or small-group interaction. Depending on the size of the space and the number of Us Tables used, grouping sizes are almost infinite.

Like all American Seating products, the collection is engineered for durability and longevity and meets American Seating’s rich history of providing a high quality product. The legs are made of tubular steel and the table tops are manufactured to meet the heavy-use educational environment. Each product in the collection has been tested to exceed BIFMA standards.

The four different cast urethane table top edge styles are: Knife-Edge; Eased; Waterfall; Bullnose. A 3 mm polypropylene edge is also available. Available in eight of the Us Chair shell colors, the variety of options empowers designers to create the inspiring look they desire. Two highly traditional, straight-edged options are also available.

The bag hook follows the same aesthetic footprint of the Us Table and Us Chair, keeping design continuity in place. Made with a quarter-inch thick cold-rolled steel wire, the hook can support the heaviest of student book or lap top bags.

The line features several environmental benefits. The four powder coat finishes use a phosphate-free rinse system, the steel legs are 100 percent recyclable and the tops meet GREENGUARD Certified testing. The lightweight top option can reduce shipping and installation energy usage, as well as costs, and is available as FSC-certified.

“This project began with extensive user-centered research. We visited more than 20 university campuses across the country interviewing architects, facility managers, teachers and students. We used this input and our 127 years of experience to develop the Us Table Line,” said American Seating Lead Designer Paul Martus.

The award-winning Us Chair Family, introduced at last year’s NeoCon, was designed in partnership with noted industrial designer Jeff Weber of Studio Weber + Associates and renowned colorist Laura Guido-Clark of Laura Guido-Clark Design.

Prices vary by the range, type and options, but each specification is at or below comparable U.S. manufactured competitor offerings. Architects, designers, facility managers and others looking to specify an Us seating solution or wanting more information can visit www.theusfamily.com.

Future tables in the line will include tops in circular and square shapes for greater configuration options, as well as smaller side tables that can offer enhanced work-surface capabilities.
