American Leather Retailer Displays 'Artful' Flair

DALLAS – The Artful Lodger, a Charlottesville, VA-based furniture store, turned a blank slate into a masterpiece at the April High Point Market. As the winner of AMERICAN LEATHER’S sofa drawing contest themed, The World is your Canvas, the store has received a four-piece Menlo Park sectional for its artful efforts.

American Leather Retailer Displays 'Artful' FlairThe contest, which was held in AMERICAN LEATHER’s Market showroom, invited participants to decorate a white Menlo Park sectional with hand-drawn logos and slogans. With nearly 100 participants adding their own personal touch to the award-winning sectional, The Artful Lodger’s bird perched upon a red sofa took the top award.

“Being in a design-focused industry, High Point Market is the perfect setting to see just how creative our customers and colleagues can be,” said Bruce Birnbach, President of American Leather. “It was exciting to see all the creative – and very talented – entries from market visitors, which turned our sectional into a work of art. We will have this finished masterpiece on display in our Market Showroom in October for everyone to see.”

Caroline Minsky, owner of The Artful Lodger, along with her husband Christopher, joked that, “art school has finally paid off.” Minsky, who also drew a picture of AMERICAN LEATHER’S iconic jellybean bowl in the contest, said that the store is excited to have a Menlo Park sectional in the store.

“We look forward to adding this design to our showroom floor,” she said. “As one of American Leather’s more celebrated contemporary designs, the Menlo Park is a show-stopping, beautiful piece that promotes lounging and entertaining in true comfort and high style.”
