Architectural Woodwork Institute Hosts Membership Drive

AWI Convention to be Held in OrlandoPOTOMAC FALLS, VA – The Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) will host the 61st Annual AWI Convention beginning Wednesday, October 9, 2013 through Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Hilton Orlando, Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The Convention will mark 61 years of convention education and networking designed specifically for architectural woodworkers.

The education at the Convention will include Marc Sanderson, President, Wilkie Sanderson speaking on “DeWalt Power Tools: The Inside Story,” Alan Beaulieu providing an economic outlook for the industry, Gary Wernlund, Sales Manager-OFM, Stiles Machinery providing a Technology Update, “A Look Behind the Scenes with General Contractors,” “Behind the Scenes at the Architects Office,” and an Information Technology Forum with industry leading companies such as Adams Group, Eastern Millwork, Fetzer Architectural Woodwork and Mark Richey Woodwork.

The Honors and Recognition Luncheon on Thursday will honor AWI Manufacturing Members for their achievements in Safety as well as the accomplishments of Chapters. The Standards of Excellence Lunch on Friday will honor AWI members for their beautiful woodwork design and fabrication. And, the President’s Dinner at American Adventure Rotunda at Epcot® will signify the change in association leadership. Members will also have the opportunity to develop valuable connections with AWI’s Supplier Members and industry vendors available throughout the convention to discuss new products and services.

Tours and fun include plant tours at Advanced Millwork, Inc. and Creative Concepts or Orlando, Inc., AWI Survey Says: Team Building Activity, Orlando area activities or tours, Ladies Brunch at Ariel’s, Business Behind the Magic by Disney Institute, and networking receptions.

Every year since 1953, AWI has hosted its National Convention.
