TORONTO - Northern Apex Corporation, a provider of automatic identification solutions for the wood products industry based in Fort Wayne, IN, has signed up to sponsor the Wood Tech Summit Leadership Conference.
Wood Tech Summit, featuring presentations by seven of the best and brightest minds of the Canadian woodworking industry, is scheduled for Oct. 23 at the Four Points By Sheraton Hotel. The conference is being held the day before the opening of the 2013 Woodworking Machinery & Supply Expo (WMS 2013) at the nearby International Centre.
Northern Apex offers a wide range of flexible systems empowered by RFID (radio frequency identification) and other technologies that help wood product manufacturers manage the flow of material from receipt, through manufacturing, to shipping the final product.
CabineTRACK, specifically designed for cabinet manufacturers, is but one example of how Northern Apex custom tailors RFID for specific applications and needs. Solutions also are available for manufacturers of wood doors, windows, furniture, laminates and case goods.
Northern Apex's platform draws upon its patent-pending process. An RFID tag is embedded into the product so that it can be tracked throughout the facility without the need of a paper traveler. The data collected from the various RFID stations (including quality, mobile, hand-held and fixed stations) is automatically fed into the customer’s manufacturing system software or ERP.
Benefits of Northern Apex's identification systems include: improvements in inventory efficiency and accuracy; elimination of human part/product identification errors; greatly reduced time looking for diverted parts; automatic creation of scrap and reorder tickets; and elimination of unidentified products at repair stations.
