MODIGLIANA, ITALY — In June 2009, the ALPI Group was awarded the Origin and Legality of Timber certification for its forestry operations in the Cameroon. The company was aided in this process by the Tropical Forest Trust under the EU-funded Timber Trade Action Plan to develop a set of technical, management and social actions that have been implemented in the African country. Granted by Bureau Veritas Certification, this certificate is intended to ensure the legal compliance and traceability of the wood produced and sold by the company. Alpi says this certificate allows its products to meet the United States Lacey Act and current content of the EU FLEGT action plan.
