Wood-energy plant planned for ex-G-P facility

SOUTH BOSTON, VA -- NOVI Energy LLC is furthering plans to locate a $150 million wood-fired power generating plant at the site of a former Georgia-Pacific facility.

According to the Gazette-Virginian, NOVI has filed paperwork to advance the nearly 50-megawatt plant, including applications for air quality permits. The newspaper said the company has also asked the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) to provide financing assistance.
