WHEELING, IL – Furniture retailer Wickes Furniture Co. Inc. filed for bankruptcy protection on Feb.4, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Reportedly, the retailer's filing in federal bankruptcy court did not say whether the company intends to close any of its 37 stores or cut its approximately 1,700-employee payroll. In the filing, the company listed assets of between $10 million and $50 million, and estimated liabilities of $50 million to $100 million.
