Weyerhaeuser Shutting Down GA Veneer Mill

FEDERAL WAY, WA – Approximately 70 workers will be out of a job when Weyerhaeuser follows through on its announcement to halt veneer production at its iLevel plant in Colbert, GA, by the end of November. The action followed up layoffs of 25 iLevel workers in January. In a letter sent to the city of Colbert, Weyerhaeuser officials said they do not expect any additional layoffs of the 135 employees remaining at the plywood operation. Veneers for making plywood will reportedly be supplied from a Weyerhaeuser plant in Dodson, LA.
