HANOI -- Vietnamese timber suppliers recently attended a workshop to learn more about new rules tied to the amended Lacey Act.
The Lacey Act was amended in May 2008 to combat the importation of logs and wood products illegally harvested.
According to the Voice of Vietnam News, the event was co-organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the World Wildlife Fund’s Global Forest & Trade Network (GFTN), with support from the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
Ha Cong Tuan, the Vietnam directorate of forestry deputy general director reporteldy said that the Lacey Act provides challenges and opportunities for the Vietnamese furniture industry.
