Vance announces it will not produce a 2010 SIBO, focuses on 2011 WMS
Vance Communications Canada LCC announces that it will not produce the 2010 edition of Salon Industriel du Bois Ouvré (SIBO).

The event had been scheduled for October 21-23 at Place Forzani in Laval, QUE. This announcement does not affect the Woodworking Machinery and Supply Expo (WMS) - Canada’s largest woodworking event - which will take place September 29-October 1, 2011 at the International Centre in Mississauga (Toronto), ON.

“These are extraordinary times, and based on market conditions and interaction with both woodworkers and exhibitors it became clear that not producing the 2010 SIBO event was in the best interest of the Quebec woodworking community,” says Steve Reiss, vice president of Vance. “SIBO has always been the focal point for Quebec’s woodworking market, but there are too many uncertainties to ensure both exhibitors and attendees the valuable experience they deserve and have come to expect.

“We are extremely grateful to all of the companies that pledged their support to the industry and to SIBO, and felt it was in everyone’s best interests to make a decision sooner - rather than later - so that they could plan their related activities accordingly.

“As always, we remain committed to the success of the Canadian market,” Reiss adds, “and will devote all of our time, energy and resources to developing innovative ways to bring the Canadian Woodworking industry together at next year’s WMS show in Toronto, and to exploring how we can bring the Quebec market a new and improved SIBO in 2012.”
