Vance Acquires Reed's Canadian Woodworking Shows

LINCOLNSHIRE, IL — Vance Publishing Corporation has acquired two leading woodworking events and related assets from Reed Exhibitions Canada. The shows include the Woodworking Machinery and Supply Expo (WMS), held in odd years in Toronto, and Salon Industriel du Bois Ouvrè (SIBO), held in even years in St. Hyacinthe, QUE.

"We've identified events as a target area for growth throughout our company," said Vance Chairman William C. Vance. These acquisitions are an integral part of that program and a clear indication of Vance's aggressive expansion plans.

The exhibitions will become part of Vance's Interiors Media Network, reporting to Harry Urban, Senior Vice President. "WMS and SIBO are the strongest woodworking exhibitions in Canada," Urban said. "Reed Exhibitions Canada has done an excellent job in growing the events over the past decade. We are excited to build upon their strengths through our strategic focus on the woodworking market place."

Vance publishes two leading North American woodworking trade journals, Wood & Wood Products, and Custom Woodworking Business. Vance also produces the Texas Woodworking Show & Cabinet Conference and the Closets & Home Organization Conference & Expo™, as well as other events in the various industries it serves.

"Adding these two well-respected exhibitions to our portfolio is part of our continuing market surround strategy," said Vance President Peggy Walker. "The shows will provide significant opportunities to increase our services to existing and new customers."
