WASHINGTON – The U.S. Green Building Council’s Greenbuild International Conference & Expo held in Chicago this year saw a record number of attendees. As of Nov. 8 there were 20,517 attendees and more than 850 exhibitors. Approximately 8,000 people attended the opening plenary with Former President Bill Clinton, who announced a partnership to retrofit public and private schools across the United States.
USGBC, the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI), GE Real Estate and the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment are working together to create a Green Schools Retrofit Program to retrofit U.S. schools and universities. To read more, visit www.buildgreenschools.org.
In related news, the USGBC also launched a new Web site to educate consumers and provide tools and resources to homeowners and home buyers interested in making their homes green, www.thegreenhomeguide.org. Another Web site, www.greenbuild365.org, provides global, online access to green building information. The new site will feature free and fee-based courses on green building technologies and innovations, as well as training to prepare professionals to successfully apply LEED certification to building design, construction and operation.
