U.S. Office Furniture Orders Down in August
GRAND RAPIDS, MI – U.S. office furniture shipments dropped 4% in August to $995 million, placing shipments into negative territory year-to-date, according to guardian.co.uk. Reportedly, the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Assn. (BIFMA) said August orders fell 1% to $970 million compared with a year earlier.

Also, BIFMA said it expects full-year orders and shipments to fall 2.4% and 3.9%, respectively. For 2009, BIFMA is projecting a drop in both orders and shipments of slightly more than 10%.
