GRAND RAPIDS, MI – According to mlive.com, an updated outlook from the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Assn. forecasts a 6.8% decline in shipments this year to $10.6 billion. The outlook is a large downturn from the 0.6% decline forecast in February for 2008. The outlook also predicts a 6.3% shipment decline in 2009 to $10 billion, which is more than twice the previously predicted decrease.
