DUBAI, UAE — According to business24-7.ae, wood imports to the United Arab Emirates have grown 100 percent over the past two years, resulting in contracts worth more than $150 million being signed during the recent Dubai Woodshow.
The growth in the industry has come as more contractors move away from traditional concrete and tile to using more wood products for flooring, construction and interiors. The largest deal signed at the expo went to Canadian exhibitor SPF Precut Lumber, which secured contracts amounting to $25 million to supply Canadian lumber to Europe and the Middle East.
