-  Thomasville 's 830,000 square-foot RTA furniture and contract casegoods woodworking facility, closed earlier this year, hits the auction block August 10.

Thomasville, a unit of Furniture Brands International, Inc., which has been consolidating wood manufacturing operations to other existing plants, had produced ready-to-assemble furniture and furnishings for hotels at the site.

The closure and sale of the Thomasville Appomattox  furniture factory was projected to result in restructuring charges totaling approximately $7 million, while annual cost savings would run to approximately $5 million, according to Furniture Brands.
