Texas Woodworking Show Enjoys Successful Three-Day Run

DALLAS, TX – The 7th biennial Texas Woodworking Show & Cabinet Conference completed a successful three-day run, March 7-9.

More than 1,800 woodworking industry professionals and suppliers participated in the woodworking show, held at Market Hall of the Dallas Market Center. The attendance total included approximately 1,350 registered visitors and 460 exhibitor personnel.

The three-day event was organized by Wood & Wood Products and Custom Woodworking Business magazines. Louis and Company of Brea, CA, was the major sponsor of the event. The company served hundreds of free hotdogs at its VIP lounge on the show floor.

Displays ranged from woodworking machinery and CAD/CAM software through cabinet hardware and laminated boards. The show included 44 first-time exhibitors.

"Overall, exhibitors were pleasantly surprised by the volume and quality of attendees," said Harry Urban, senior vice president of Vance Publishing Corp., which organized the event. "Most exhibitors were also pleased that they had a chance to get acquainted with many new customers from Texas and the surrounding states."

The Cabinet Conference featured the support of five leading trade organizations, including the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Assn., the Architectural Woodwork Institute, the Cabinet Makers Assn., the Association of Closet and Storage Professionals and the Wood Component Manufacturers Assn.

The Cabinet Conference was anchored by two timely keynote presentations delivered by Bill Weaver, president of the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Assn. and of Canyon Creek Cabinet Co. of Monroe, WA. The first addressed the KCMA’s new Environmental Stewardship Program. The second looked at opportunities and challenges that cabinetmakers face.

The cabinet conference also featured one-day workshops by W&WP columnist Tom Dossenbach on Lean Manufacturing and by Tony Perno of Caseworks Technologies on Cost Estimating.

Coming in 2008…

The Dallas event is the precursor of an event that will make its formal debut next year. The National Cabinet Conference & Woodworking Expo is scheduled for March 19-21, 2008, at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center in Schaumburg, IL.
