Suspected ComDust explosion idles production at Wood-Mode
KREAMER, PA -

A sawdust silo explosion rocked Wood-Mode’s cabinet plant early Tuesday morning.

No injuries were reported.

About 25 employees, mainly maintenance workers, were said to be working at the time.

According to the Daily Item, the explosion occurred shortly after midnight in a 75-foot silo storing sawdust used as fuel. The silo reportedly contained about 16 feet of sawdust.

Company officials believe it was the explosion was ignited by a spark.

The force of the blast blew off the silo’s heavy lid. It reportedly landed about 100 yards away on top of a Wood-Mode employee’s car.

The chief of Kreamer’s fire department said the blast was heard by residents several miles away.
