Rutland Plywood to Lay Off Half of Workforce

RUTLAND, VT – Rutland Plywood will permanently lay off 76 employees, about half of its workforce, by the end of November, according to the Rutland Herald.

The company said it will only operate one shift instead of two in the face of a continuing drop in orders.

Jack Barrett, president of Rutland Plywood, told the Herald, “If we felt this was a temporary slowdown, we would not have taken such a drastic course of action.” Read more.
