ELLISTON, VA — Rowe Fine Furniture, a furniture manufacturer, has opened a new lumber grading facility in Salem, VA, to expand operations at the company’s Salem Frame business unit, according to The Roanoke Times. Salem Frame has long supplied wood components to Rowe for its manufacture in Elliston of upholstered furniture.
Salem Frame had previously been limited to providing customers kiln drying of freshly cut lumber. Now, with the addition of the 11,250-square-foot grading structure, the company will offer kiln drying, grading, trimming, ripping and packaging of lumber. Rowe said it invested about $500,000 to construct and equip the grading facility.
