NORTH VENICE, FL — PGT Industries, a storm window and door manufacturer, laid off more than 300 employees on Mar. 4, following a year in which total revenue dropped 25%, or $93 million, according to the Venice Gondolier. The company has eliminated about 400 employees — an estimated 27% of its workforce — from its Venice, FL, and Salisbury, NC, offices since October, as part of a restructuring strategy to endure the housing downturn and decreased sales.
