New Report Sees Decrease in December Furniture Orders

HIGH POINT, NC – According to the latest survey of residential furniture manufacturers and distributors from accounting and consulting firm Smith Leonard PLLC, new net orders for Dec. 2007 were 8% less than 2006. 

Orders for 2007 were 4% less than the previous year. Dec. 2007 shipments were down 5% from Dec. 2006. Overall, shipments for 2007 were 5% less than 2006. Backlogs were down 7% in Dec. 2007 compared to Nov. 2007 as overall shipments exceeded new orders. Receivables dropped 3% from Dec. 2006.
