New furniture orders rose 3% in November 2010
Furniture orders gain 1% in June

HIGH POINT, NC -- New orders for residential furniture in November 2010 rose 3% from October levels, though they declined 5% compared to November 2009, according to Smith Leonard Consultants. 

Smith Leonard said its monthly survey of furniture manufacturers and distributors also indicated that year-to-date new orders increased 4% for the 11 months through November 2010.

Smith Leonard said November furniture shipments were on par with November 2009 and were up 1% from October. Year-to-date, shipments were up 7% for the 11 months over the same period a year ago.
