HIGH POINT – The latest Furniture Insights report from accounting and consulting firm Smith Leonard PLLC indicates that new orders of residential furniture fell less than 0.5% in July, compared to July 2006. This was the lowest decline since June of 2006 when orders were flat compared to June 2005. Year-to-date, new orders were down 4% compared to the first seven months of last year. Shipments in July were 2% below July 2006 and were off 20% compared to June.
