- DIY Woodworking Shop established by Larry Hyman, is positioning itself as a source for quality custom furnishings, as well as training for hobbyists and a locus for professionals.  Hyman, a woodworker for over 35 years, also produces custom-made furniture at his 4,000 square foot shop, along with two other staff that serve dual roles as educators and woodworkers.

Targeting both hobbyists and professional woodworkers, who can use the shops tool sets and work areas, Hyman has diversified his woodworking business, an approach that
a number of custom wood furniture and cabinetry shops are using, including WoodSmyths in Chicago. Classes include joinery, tool usage and furniture making in both beginner and advanced level courses.

"Experienced staff members are always on-site to help with questions and assist those without experience with a particular tool," says Hyman, who provides five minutes per hour of advice free, then charges. Power tools available include table saw, band saw, jigsaw, miter saw, scroll and SawStop 10-inch professional cabinet saw. as well as 6-inch and 8-inch jointes, lathes, routers, 13-inch and 20-inch planers, sheet, belt, drum and disc sanders, a drill  press and a range of portable power tools.

Hyman (shown) says he has been a woodworker and remodeling carpenter for the past 35 years, with experience in a range of activities such as carpentry, custom woodworking, plumbing, electrical, tiling and sheet rock work.
