NBMDA Elects President

CHICAGO -- The North American Building Material Distribution Assn. (NBMDA), a trade association representing wholesale distributors of building materials in the United States and Canada, announced April 17 that Roger Debnam has been elected association president.

Debnam, president of Wurth Wood Group in Charlotte, NC, brings with him more than 30 years of industry experience and has been actively involved with NBMDA for a number of years. Prior to his recent appointment, Debnam served two years on the association’s Executive Committee and held a variety of volunteer positions, including roles as a committee member, chair and director.

“I look forward to working with other members of the NBMDA Board and the association on the important issues and emerging trends faced by our industry,” commented Debnam. “We are well positioned to grow our service offerings, and I look forward to serving as president during this very exciting time.”

Debnam began his career in 1976 and has held sales and general management positions in a number of companies. In 1993, he assumed the role of sales manager of Charlotte Hardwood Center, which today is known as Wurth Wood Group. During his six years as sales manager, the company grew from three locations to seven. Today, as president of Wurth Wood Group, Debnam oversees 11 branch locations that distribute wood, surfacing materials, finishing systems, hardware and other related items to the cabinet industry in the Southeast market.

“We are very fortunate to have Roger serve as president, as he is a recognized leader in the industry,” commented Kevin Gammonley, NBMDA’s executive vice president. “He has shown the vision, skills and knowledge needed to lead NBMDA.”
