Woodworking Industry News NAM campaigns against EPA regulatory burden By Rich Christianson August 16, 2011 | 12:12 am EDT Comments Print WASHINGTON --The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) launched a multi-state, multi-million-dollar initiative opposing overregulation, new burdens and restrictions mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).The campaign calls on Congress and the EPA to give greater consideration to the impact these regulations will have on businesses, jobs and energy prices. The campaign also urges consumers to contact their Congressmen to support NAM's "No New Regulations" position.âAt a time when America is rebounding from a serious recession, we need policies that help manufacturers by using incentives to create jobs rather than imposing regulations that create more uncertainty, diminish our competitiveness and discourage investment,â said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. The campaign consists of educational and grassroots efforts, and will kick off with television and radio ads in Arkansas, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. âManufacturers already have invested billions of dollars to comply with federal regulations, but the EPA continues to propose hundreds of new regulations that will raise costs for all consumers, especially manufacturers, undermining their ability to create jobs and compete in the global marketplace,â Timmons said.Read more about the National Manufacturers Association's "No New Regulations" campaign. Also read Editor-at-Large Rich Christianson's blog: Jobs Vs. the Environment.Posted by Rich Christianson Have something to say?
