WASHINGTON — The National Association of Home Builders has named the 3,000-home Del Sur community in San Diego, CA, as “Mixed Use Development of the Year” for its green features, according to All Headline News. The NAHB bestowed the award to Black Mountain Ranch LLC, developer of Del Sur, during the organization’s annual National Green Building Conference.

The 1,800-acre community, which is 20% complete, will save over 100 million gallons of water and over 5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year when finished. The electricity savings is the equivalent of nearly 9,000 barrels of crude oil.
