CALHOUN, GA — Mohawk Industries a manufacturer of floor covering products, reported a fall in earnings for the second quarter, hurt by a 7% decline in net sales.
The company also provided an earnings outlook for the third quarter that was lower than analysts’ expectations. Net income was $88.8 million, down from $115.3 million in the previous year’s second quarter. The company said sales were adversely affected by slowing economies in the United States and Europe and rising commodity costs.
