STARKVILLE, MS — Mississippi State University’s College of Forest Resources is offering a workshop about the facets of wood on Nov. 4 from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. in the Franklin Center, located off of Blackjack Road in Starkville, MS. The workshop will provide basic information, including the primary chemical compounds and cells that comprise wood, the variability within and between species and the challenges associated with these species. Moisture-related challenges will be discussed, including shrinking and swelling, checking, staining and casehardening.

The cost for the workshop is $35, which includes lunch and supplies. Interested individuals may register online at cfr.msstate.edu/workshops/woodbasics.
