Miller retires; Smick takes WMIA’s helm
PHOENIX, MD – Bill Miller, CAE, has retired as executive vice president of the Woodworking Machinery Industry Assn., effective Dec. 31, 2009. Miller served the WMIA for 10 years.

Miller is succeeded by Rainey Smick. She was promoted from associate executive vice president to executive vice president.

"Though I look forward to retirement, I’ll miss the wonderful people with whom I’ve had the opportunity to work with over the years,” Miller said. “WMIA is a vibrant organization – led and staffed by people with whom I’m proud to have worked.” “

When WMIA decided to opt for its own management, there was no space for mistakes. Bill was the experienced, well-navigated manager WMIA needed,” said Giordano Checchi, past president of WMIA. “He proved to be a professional of high value. We wish him the best at his retirement, though WMIA will miss Bill’s wisdom, thoughtful diplomacy and discreet leadership.”

Smick is on her second tour of duty with the WMIA and has worked closely with Miller and WMIA members for the past several years. She can be reached at [email protected] or (410) 628-1970.
