MINNEAPOLIS — Mereen-Johnson, a manufacturer, distributor and servicer of precision wood working machinery, was awarded the U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s SHARP Award for accomplishments in workplace safety, employee health and program management at its Webster, SD, facility.
The Webster facility, one of only 12 qualifying companies in South Dakota, exceeded all the standards in the OSHA safety and workplace health audit, and has held this distinction in every audit since 2003. To receive the SHARP Award, the subject must first volunteer for evaluation, and then qualify in more than 58 dimensions of safe work practice, employee awareness, safety program management and frequency of injury. Mereen-Johnson’s Webster facility earned an almost perfect score.
